This is NOT about thumbnail previews. I used to be able to preview a video,at least for some file types, by R-clicking the file name in Explorer, then Properties. There was usually a "Preview" tab on the properties screen, which would actually play the video. It would often play it even when WMP or others couldn't / wouldn't play the file.

That "Preview" tab no longer shows up on the properties screen and I can't find any documentation about it anywhere.

Any ideas how to get it back? Thanks

In Windows Explorer, in Tools menu select the item "Folder Options...". On the General tab, make sure that "Web View" is set to "Enable Web content in folders".

From then on, you'll be able to see a little WMP preview of any selected video file, within a side panel between the folders tree and the files panel (activated via the above-mentioned folder option).
