Comment:

I have some some CD's with personal videos I am trying to edit (cut some scenes out, add titles).
The files are formatted under VOB files. I tried using Windows movie maker but it does not allow me to open the file. I also have Adobe Premiere but have not been able to use it.

Can anyone help me to figuring out if there is a way to convert my VOB files to a format Windows Movie Maker will accept or will I be able to use Adobe Premiere to edit VOB Files???

Please help me out, I need to have this done in two days.

Thanks :)

This is an advanced question for this forum, I suggest going here:
http://forum.videohelp.com

Post your question in the Newbie forum there. I do not believe that raw VOB files can be edited, especially if they are already burned to a CD as a finished project. They may have to be altered or un-encrypted. I have done a lot of video capture and editing, but not converting so I will be the first to say that I am not experienced in this.

GabyBee,
You need to convert the "VOB" files contained in the Video file to mpeg files. Try using a program called VOB2MPG:
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VOB2MPG
it is freeware

Then you can edit them in Windows Movie Maker

XPuser is correct; VOBs are actually mpeg2 files in a container, and can be edited as mpeg2 and converted into several containers, including AVI. But they must be "stripped" from the container first.

You can usually just change the extension of the file from VOB to MPG and it will work.
