Using Sony Digital 8 TRV27 camcorder, with Firewire.Captured video on PC is to dark, compared to watching the preview on camcorder, and also when watching the video on a television thru camcorder. I've burned this video along with many others and the video is still to dark. I know you can adjust the brightness in some programs but this just adds to more time involved I've tried (videostudio, vegas, pinnacle, windows moviemaker) all the same problem, to dark. I recently tried a Canon mini 8 digital camcorder and the video was perfect on the same PC (not dark like my sony). Very frustrating, If you could help I would appreciate it

Sounds more like a problem with the camera than anything else.
I don't know your model of camera but I would suspect that it is either a cheaper model (no offence intended) or you have a setting wrong within the camera setup menu.

Some recording programs have adjustments that will correct that. Another place is in 'Display Properties/Settings/Advanced. There may be brightenss adjustments there. Look for 'Color' and 'Overlay' adjustments.

I've been adjusting the brightness and gamma, to lighten up the videos, but that just takes up more time. Its not a monitor brightness problem, even though the capture is to dark on the PC. What are the chances of the firewire cable being corrupt, even though I can transfer data using the same firewire cable? Not ready to spend money for a new cable if not needed.

Check video card properties, look for overlay. This will make all video players, editors, tv card pic view screens brighter.
