The fastest method is direct to a standalone
DVD recorder.

PCI TV Card around £25.00, they come bundled with Capture Software.

You still need to convert to DVD Format, which depends on the type of file the Capture Software creates.

Nero & Roxio etal can create DVD's.

If you own a DV camera, you may not need any additional hardware (except, possibly cables). DV cameras have a built-in analog to digital converter. I have my DV camera connected to both my VCR (via composite cable) and my computer (via IEEE1394 - Firewire). The converter in a DV camera is more robust than those on some of the more economically priced capture cards.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

The PCI TV Card is connected to the VHS Player via Co-ax cable ... this is the same as connecting a VHS to TV via a co-ax cable.

The device you pointed out would need a Scart to A/V Convertor, unless you have a VHS Player with A/V Outputs!!

Hi Martin - if you decide to go with the Amazon device, please advise back how you get on.

I noted your budget. Presume you are in the UK as you quoted in £'s.

Recently saw in a Pound-stretcher store, a freestanding convertor about the size of a video player for around £90. This included a video player, hard disc and dvd writer.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
