My daughter has an Acer Desktop with a Dual Core processor and at least 2gb of RAM. The operating system is some level of Vista Home.
Our house subscribes to AT&T Uverse for cable TV and internet. It is TV over IP so every TV needs a set-top box. My daughter's old CRT TV went bad. I am wondering what I need to do so she can watch TV on her LCD PC display..
The set-top box has a DVI out and i have tried to connect it to the DVI connector on the LCD, but that is not enough, nothing happens.
Since I already have a decoder box, it seems a waste to me to by a TV tuner card and I'm not even sure that would work.

You'll need a TV tuner card, or some other input socket (perhaps, a capture card). The DVI socket on the laptop is an output socket, that's why it didn't work.
