To start off, I have alot of store bought cd's but I don't like all the songs on them so I put them into my computer(the ones that I do like). Now when I burn them onto a disc to play in my car, it will play good as long as I don't push "skip to next song" or "back to previous song" If I push either the disk player will show an error and then eject. I first thought that maybe I had too many songs on it so I took it to only 10 and it still does the same thing. I even made sure that I had a 2 second delay between songs and it still didn't work. I use the Roxio software that came with the Dell. My car is a 98' Park Avenue. I don't know if that info will help or not. I'm not even sure if this is a question to post. But any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do the CD's you use work ok in other CD players ?. I suspect the that your cars CD player is too old. 1998 was a long time ago. Using CDR's instead of commercial CD's requires much greater sensitivity by the laser pick up which you car may just not have.

Hi rayok123. Yes they do work in other players with forward and back but not in my car. And thank you for replying since this was the wrong forum to post in but I couldn't post in any other since I already posted here. Maybe I will just have to settle for at least being able to play it from beginning to end.

Have you tried different brand cdr's? Also, I would suggest to record them in the slowest mode possible.
Also, if you printed labels on the CD's and used them, the extra weight could also be a factor in playing on an older model cd player.
To recap, burn the CD on the lowest setting and try without a label. Post back your results, thanks

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Hi XPUser 4real. I will give that a try (burning at a slower speed)It may take a couple of days to get back to you though. I have been working a lot of overtime at my job so I don't have as much on my computer. The disks that I use are Memorex black cd-r's.

I too had the problem and burning the CDs at a slower speed made them work in my car's player.

My burner was 48x but using 8x to burn worked out. My car was a 2001 so maybe even slower would be better for the older player.

Guys I have got to say Thank you so very much for your help. I got it to work at 4x. It may have taken a little longer to burn but it was well worth the wait. Fastforward and back work like they are suppose to. I can't say Thank you eeeee...nough. But one thing that still has me a little baffled though. What is the difference between the burn speeds?

Glad to see it worked for you. I usually burn most of my cd's at a slower speed for that reason...older technology sometimes has a hard time with faster speeds.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
