Does anyone know of any software that is capable of blowing up a thumbnail to a respectable looking jpeg or other standard-format image?

Nope, it cannot be done. Well it can be done, but it would look awful and nothing like the thumbnail.

If you want to try it, download IRFANVIEW (free). It 'might' do it. Maybe someone else knows for sure. But I guarantee that it would look awful. Thumbnails are very low resolution and when you blow one up, you get a very blocky picture.

Sure you can blow it up, the kicker is the quality of the image at a substantially higher rez.
Get a magnifying glass and you can drool on that miniature jpeg.
