static in sound with windows media

problem with sound on the laptop. there is static in all sounds (wav, midi, etc)except MP3 files. this is with a USP flash drive NOT in the USP port. inserting the flash drive IN the port removes all static from the sound. this happens weather the flash drive is clean (re-formated) or has files on it. have used other media players, some are ok, but have very low volume compared to window media player 10.

You just need to adjust your volume settings. Turn the main volume down by clicking on the volume icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen and balance it out with your media player's volume and the built in speaker volume
