SD Card says it's full but no files show up

April 1, 2010 at 14:28:55
Specs: Windows Vista

I had placed the card into my Computer's SD Card Slot and tried to remove the photos from the card. I received an error that said "Could not Copy DSC_00129", I hit "OK" and then all of the pics went away that were on the card. I reopened the folder that the card was listed under and all photos were gone. I click on the Properties of the card and it says there is 2.2GB used and 1.78GB available but yet shows no items. I have went into the folder options and have my "Show Hidden Files/Folders" checked but still cannot see anything. I have went to Properties with the card and used the "Scan and Fix" option under Tools but it shows that the card is working properly and gives me the following message:

Volume NIKON D90 created 4/13/2009
Windows is verifying files and folders..
File and folder verification complete.
Windows is verifying free space...
Free space verification is complete.
Windows has check the file system and found no problems.

4,085,252,096 bytes total disk space
196,608 bytes in 6 hidden files
2,240,282,624 bytes in 462 files
1,844,740,096 bytes available on disk

32,768 bytes in each allocation unit
124,672 total allocation units on disk
56,297 allocation units available on disk.

I am trying to find out how to recover the "462 Files"(Pictures) or are they just gone??

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

have you tried using a standalone card reader? Maybe the reader on your PC only reads cards up to 2 or 4 GB insize?

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

I have tried a stand alone reader. I have also tried it in 3 different Laptops, all of which used to read the card. Just looking to see if anyone else had any ideas if there were anyways to recover the files?

Hook up whatever device you are using with the card and open it under My Computer. Then manually drag the files to the trash can to delete them to clear the card.
