You can use wondershare dvd ripper platinum, it is able to rip dvds to computer in 1:1. it is also capable to save dvd to computer in regular video format.
Not like some ordinary DVD rippers, wondershare can rip even copyright protected DVDs, so just give it a shot.

I settled on ZC DVD ripper. Needed something simple (I am not doing the rips). There is no retail DVDs in the mix. These are DVDs made to play on PEG channels. Needed to rip them DIRECTLY to Mpeg 2. Also allows simple editing. Needed that to lose color bars and countdown at the beginning of many of the DVDs.

DVD Decrypter doesn't do that. DVD Decrypter is the best I've used to copy DVD to DVD but that isn't what I needed.

ZC DVD ripper is shareware that will cost $45 for the needed simple version. I tested at least 12 or more programs. That one is the simplest to use.

For anyone interested I did stumble on a small program that may help someone when ripping DVD when copy protection is a problem. It is called DVD43.

hi, there are many video converter that can convert to another
format, but i recommend you E.M. HD Video Converter.
because i have been using it for a long time and it works
really well for me.
it is a wonderful video converter that lets you not only convert
your favorite videos to various HD (high definition) video
formats like HD WMV Video, HD DivX Video, HD Xvid Video,
HD H.264 Video, HD Quick Time Video, HD MPEG4 Video,
HD FLV Video, HD TS Video, etc. but also create Blu-ray
folder for PS3 and Blu-ray player. besides, E.M. HD Video
Converter can easily burn all videos and AVCHD (mts, m2ts)
to DVD, DivX DVD.

Thanks for your input. As I stated I needed to find something SIMPLE that only needs to do ONE thing. Too many options make it complicated to use. I am not the person using the program. The folks using it are not computer experts and are doing this while performing their other duties. Thanks anyway. The person using the program already sign on for the one I posted.

It also support ripping MTV, music DVD to MP3 audio, you can listen to your favorite movies on your iPod now!

Did you read my first or last response. This is NOT for ripping movies. This is ONLY for ripping government produced DVD that has no copy protection.

Not interested in anything but ripping DIRECTLY (without conversion) to MP2 on the hard drive. The more options available the more chance of operator error.

I tried at least a dozen freeware/shareware programs before deciding on the one I did. Thanks for your response anyway.

I don't want to convert the files to play on any devices. I just need them on a hard drive as Mpeg2.

Do you have a relationship with that software? If you are pushing shareware here that you have an interest in then you should be paying for ads. If I am mistaken then I apologize.

"I am no longer looking for suggestions."

Yes, it's a pity that none of the suggestions included simply copying the .vob file(s) to your hard drive and changing the file extension to .mpeg.

Yes, it really is that simple (.vob files are mpeg2 encoded, already).

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.
