When I record from my tuner card the sound does not keep up with the video. It works fine for about the 1st half hour and then slowly gets worse.

I know my tuner card is not great but when I record in DVD quality the picture is great and I'd like to get the sound worked out so I can record movies.

My card is the Norwood Micro (COMPUSA) PCI TV Tuner Card.

I've always had sound issues with this card because I have to plug a wire from the card into one of my Sound card inputs.

Do you think the tuner is the problem or can this be resolved? Should I just get a better tuner and if so what do you think is a good card that wont break the bank. Preferably one that I would not have to rig a wire for sound.

I assure you that my system is not the problem or that to many programs are running etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would like to know the answer to this one myself, although my dinasour is my problem, 800 mghz Compaq Pressario 5008US 512 memory, fsb probably about 100.

Your processor and memory certainly are up to par and presumabley your front side bus is way high with the processor speed. I have a Win TV card PVR and the sound sometimes gets a little out of sync with the video; had to ctrl alt del and turn everything off, also unhook from internet/cable and turn off virus and firewall, making sure u r not on internet on doing so.

Mine is my dinasour; would love to hear the solution to yours, any conflicts?

I am getting a powerful 3.2 system in January myself finally after my dinasour from 1999, also make sure u r using xp as xp is a sure thing to process files over the 4 gig range, 98 can't, hence my dual boot.

I suggest in tuner cards Hauppauge Win TV PVR types and Ulead Video editing software, win tv card about$200 and the Ulead about $100+, I think the new WinTv cards are in the HDTV format, mine is older and is not.

Hope this helps, I am trying to convert MPEG1 files to swf smaller format but unsuccessfully as I lose the sound.

Also do you have 1.5 gigabytes of memory installed as u need a lot (max) memory to do the editing and such, my 512 mgb is the reason mine doesn't keep up.

Right click on my computer and if u don't have a gig or more, add some.

Virgie1 - Thanks for the response. I had just installed the WinTV-PVR150 and allthough it is 4 times the price it is 100 times better. All I can say is WOW. I highly recommend this card to anyone that wants to record TV.

The Ulead software is perfect. It converted and burned a 2hr45min movie to dvd in 25min. The picture on my TV is as good as watching it live.

There are no sound issues at all and no wires to mess with.

This card comes with free titan TV. Basically it's Tivo. Just click on the program and record.

I think the Ulead software would also help you convert your MPEG files. Good luck with your new system.
