Paid 20 bucks at Compusa for the pci tv tuner card. Great picture and can't ask for much better for the price. Software wise works great on daily task, but there is a bug in the weekly scheduling. So, no recording transformers and naruto for the kids weekly on cartoon network.

I've seached on the web for software updates and no luck. I've tried beyond tv for the heck of it and couldn't get it to work. Does anyone have this card or know a solution?

!Update! WinTVR3 software weekly scheduler came on while I'm typing this message. I set it for 8:00 Saturday and its coming on 8:00 pm Thursday. Some how the date and time is not accurate on my weekly scheduler. Guess what, there is no function to add the correct date and time. Any help apprecitated. Thanks

You may be able to use another application

Hey don't feel so bad. I paid twice that and the next week it went on sale for the 20 bucks and I couldn't find my receipt. Anyway, the scheduler is going to go based on the time and date you have set on XP. Also make sure the time and date are set correctly in your bios just to be sure. Also let me know if you have any sound issues with recording.

Didn't think about checking the bios date and time. I will have to do that.

No sound issues. I linked a Y-adapeter from my direct tv box outputs to the audio input cable attached to my tv card.

sound is great.

No other applications I have found support the tv card so far.

If Norwood Micro is just a boxed compusa brand. I wish compusa would offer a support page.

"No other applications I have found support the tv card so far."

I find that a little surprising - my "no name" card works with a variety of tuner, capture & DVR apps (not that I'm an expert or anything)

What other tuner, DVR apps? I got Beyond TV to work but no sound. I'd like to use one like that, that's better than software that came with card.

Much depends on the chipset & drivers - I haven't done any recording yet, but I've been able to successfully setup the tuner with:

Star Media Center (free)

Virtual VCR (free)

SVCDCorder (free)

PowerVCR II (commercial)

WinDVR - - sort of. This was the software that came with the card (an old version), it setup ok, but kept freezing up, as did the most recent version

ymmv

Hey thanks, can't wait to try them. I got some sound from Beyond TV but it's all scratchy and to low. I wish I could get it to work, it's a great program and the record options are awesome.

Sure - they list a bunch at that TV-cards site, but some of the links are duds (it took a bit to find a working d/l for SVCDCorder) and some of the freeware programs are now commercial.

That Star Media Center is pretty neat - all the more so considering it's less than 1Mb

I was thinking of giving 'BeyondTV' a try, it does sound interesting

I tried beyond tv and couldn't get a picture, but could get sound. Guess I will try and find my chipset and do a google on a tv applications that support my chip set. Will cpu iz show my chipset or will i have to phsically look at my tv card?

Well, I don't believe those CPU tools will ID add-in cards - something like Everest should.

Depends though - mine shows in Device Manager, and some of the apps identify & pick up the capture card fine

Sometimes you really have to futz around to get a good scan - I managed to find an app designed for my particular chip (Philips 7130 - - 'Fly 2000 TV') and it's... being difficult

My Norwood Micro Tv Tuner card according to device manager is a Conexant 23880 Video Capture (NTSC) chipset. Going to google it now and see what supporting applications pop up.

I just bought the Norwood Micro Tv tuner from CompUSA too, and I'm having a little problem. The image is not perfect: I see shady vertical lines every 2-3 inches, and they only appear when playing SuperTVPro (the sw), has anybody else had the same problem?
I didn't think it was my computer because I have a 256MB video card, PIV, and 2GB of RAM.
Thanks for any help!

that Svid type connection has multiple plugins on the end of it. There should be a blue one, plug the AV type cable that came in the box into that hole and then find the blue hole on your sound card and plug it into there.

im installed wintvr3 2 weeks ago and it was working great. now i am having issues of when i turn it on, it cuts out my internet access. my external cable modem drops the online/ activity light but the tv still shows. so i have to open up network connections right click and repair and that works only sometimes. other times i have to reboot to get my internet back. anyone know what gives? i havent had any schedule problems yet.actually once i have. it popped up and then closed itself and didnt record. oh well. cant win em all. i bought it for 15.99 on woot.com . its still a deal.

I have DSL and don't know a lot about networking. Wish i could help you briin79. Maybe contact your cable internet provider and ask them about it or ask some of the people here in the networking section.

Yeah i found it was conflicting with my doylesroom poker account. those two didnt like eachother and gave error messages. now i have to reinstall the software because wintvr3 errors each time i open the application. i get sound but no video at all. and the sounds stays on. i go to task manager and look for the file thats gives that command and there isnt one. so i have to reboot each time now until i reinstall the new software. they should have done a better job with this product but hey i only paid 15 bucks so im not complaining too much. thanks for looking out bruce
