Subject: Putting VOB Files togetherOS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: trust me, good enough |
Comment: Hey, i recently purchased an ipod video, i have a program that converts any sort of media file into an mp4 for my ipod (videora ipod converter) but i have a problem, when i rip a dvd to my computer the files are ripped in several VOB files of approx 20 min sections, this poses the problem of creating a single video file to put on my ipod. Does anyone know of any programs that can rip the dvd movie as a single file or some program that can join several VOB file? Regards Tom

Reply: (edit)You must first rip the VOB's to your HDD then convert them. You can find lots of converters under the TOOLS section at www.videohelp.com

Reply: (edit)VOBs are nothing more than MPEG files. rename them to MPEG and then use an editor to merge them together. Michael J

Reply: (edit)MICHAELJ: "VOBs are nothing more than MPEG files. rename them to MPEG and then use an editor to merge them together." This is not completely true...
VOB files are MPEG2 files WITH THE AUDIO MUXED. mpeg files come with the audio demuxed (audio and video separate) When you convert an mpeg to a vob, the conversion (in simple terms) puts the audio and video together in one track. So you have to be careful changing the extension as the audio mey not funtion properly. This is especially true if your vob comes with multiple audio tracks (ie: movie audio, directors cut audio, yadda, yadda)
