Problems with VLC player

August 28, 2012 at 13:43:07
Specs: Windows XP Service pack 2
I installed VLC player and it did not work. I do not know what happened. I do not remember if it even played dvds. How do I get it to work?

I originally downloaded it to watch extra dvd features that were on the dvd.

The dvd did mention interactual player should be installed but someone on this forum said it would work with the VLC player.

The dvd said interactual player was installed but I was not able to contact interactual player because e-mail did not work to say that the dvd never had the player on it or I could not find where to look on the dvd.

It did not specify on the dvd. It just said to download interactual player and it was not even there.

Does the company still exist? I tried to

Will VLC player play the dvd extras that work for interactual player?

You are in the wrong forum but try re-installing it and make sure you have the correct codecs

VLC player already has built in codecs so you don't need to check for the correct codecs if you are trying to use that software

VLC player is a great player but it's not really made to perform like a DVD player and give you menus with the main video and extras like dedicated DVD player software will. You are better off looking for DVD software like WinDVD or something simillar.

I apologize for being in the wrong forum. I long did this because I could not find a forum on this website about media players. Under what topic do I ask?

Celine1, there are no policies stating you have to post in a certain area. Your post is fine as it is a generic question that can be posted in the Xp forum or the digital photo forum. If it is supposedly in the wrong forum, the moderators will move it, that's what they are no worries...
