Problem with my SD card

April 14, 2014 at 00:06:24
Specs: Windows 7
i was using the SD card in my Canon 6D DSLR camera. i wanted to transfer the files to my PC. So i put it in the SD card slot and the memory card opened. i saw the images. i clicked on the properties of the SD card and clicked on the tool tab and checked for errors. there were some errors and i fixed them. After that when opened the SD card
the 100CANON folder is not opening. when i double clicked it asks to choose a program to Open with(the folder icon turned into a white colored icon). I am screwed. i need the photographs so badly. i tried to recover the photographs but the photos should be deleted to recover it. that didn't worked out. the SD card is showing a 4GB of used file size. it is not empty. i desperately need help Please Help...

Try reading the card in a different computer or card reader.

Can you see the pics when the card is in your camera?

If yes, leave the card in there and connect your camera to your computer (you may have to install the Canon "Zoom Browser" I think it's called (my current DSLR is an Olympus model so I'm relying purely on memory there).

I don't know what else to suggest, but believe me I've been there, not a nice feeling.
At least with a film camera you might have lost a couple of shots that weren't exposed right, very rarely did you lose the entire 24 or 36 shots. Progress does have it's bad points.

I guess it's not a good idea to let windows 'fix' alleged errors on your SD card, especially when the card seems OK.

This poster had a similar problem and stubbornly refused to give up. Scroll down to # 23--the 'best answer-- for their solution:

Here's the download page for that software:
