Comment:

I have a Canon Vixia HV30 and want to upload video onto my new laptop. I am using Pinnacle 12 Ultimate but when I click the button to capture the video, my camcorder starts playing the footage but all pinnacle shows is a black screen with the timer going. Once I stop the capture and go into edit mode, I get a dialog saying the video I just captured could not be opened.

A few notes:
I have used Pinnacle 10 multiple times on my old computer with the same camcorder and have not had issues.

When I switch the camera to camera mode while plugged in and in studio 12, I can see the live video feed in the capture menu.

When I plug the camcorder in, I do not get the usual pop-up menu asking me which program I would like to use to edit it.

Have you tried Pinnacle support? They handle these problems daily and can get it ironed out pretty quick.
