when i try to play certain video clips my computer basically shuts down and i have to restart it. from what i can tell it seems to be clips with a high data rate causing this. is there a fix for this or could it be something else causing it?

Start at event viewer for more clues.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
