Re-encode the AVI's with an earlier version of Divx, but not Xvid.

Actually, you could try an earlier version of Xvid, but there's no guarantee it'll work.

Gah, beat me to the punch. Anyways, I would start by getting Divx.

ok.. after googling awhile, i found a great tool to convert to divx; Mr. Divx. But there's another problem again. When i play the video on the standalone dvd player, the picture is cropped on every sides. I can only see half the subtitle. But when played in computer it is normal. Why is that so? I'm using a LCD tv. Anyone knows how to configure the video so i could appear perferct on tv?

I convert and burn all my avi files with a program called "ConvertXtoDVD". The only thing you have to do is to add avi file and hit the convert button.

You can go into settings and change a bunch of things to your likings. I can't help you though with subtitles, but i know there is an option for it in settings.

For the size,it all depends on your avi file size, for example an avi size 640x464 give me a cropped image too, but i have a zoom feature on my dvd that fix it.

If you have an avi file size 624x352, that will give you a perfect letterbox(black line on top and bottom of your screen) image.

I'm pretty sure you can fiddle with ConvetXtoDVD to fix the cropping thing but i don't know how.
