I have been using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 for some time now, but for some completely unknown reason the program no longer opens. I have not installed any new software on my laptop, and whenever i click an image to open, it begins going through all the presets (loading styles, brushes etc.) then eventually, just as it's about to open, it closes the whole Photoshop startup window and reverts to whatever was there before i tried to open it.

You might try a system restore first and if that doesn't work, I'd uninstall & reinstall the program, sounds like something has been corrupted.

Start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. Click restore my computer to an earlier time, choose a point from the calender, prior to your problem.
If it doesn't help, it's a good idea to undo the system restore.
