Anyone still remembering the trusty ole MS Photo Editor 3.0 from the Office 97 and XP days should check out this standalone version in MSI format. Full functionality, no overhead. Click the link for my homepage...

I have it stowed away, it was good for it's time a decent program, but most certainly a dinosaur compared with any free photo editing software today including Irfanview, Picassa, Photofiltre, and many others.

I would agree with JohnT: Photo Editor 3.0 is an outdated program.

An excellent photo editing program is GimpShop. It's The Gimp re-made to look more like Photoshop. And it's free!

If you're in to the .Net thing, M$ has PaintDotNet,which I think is also free.

Guys you are right. There are other programs out there. But there are a large "installed base" who are familiar with Photo Editor 3 because of their experience with the previous versions of Office products where they work(ed). They loved the program for it's simplicity and easy to grasp concepts. In my case, my company doesn't want to use (and distrusts) all "free" programs and views them as non-standard. So having the opportunity to use a program they are already comfortable with using and supporting for simple image editing tasks makes sense to them. I also love Paint.NET and think the new version 3 (Beta) is great. But as you know, companies hate installing beta sotware as well. So I use PE 3 at work.
