not getting stereo sound

I've downloaded some *.flv files from youtube, converted them to *.mpg. and burned them as VCD using both the U-Lead video software bundled with an older Pioneer CD-RW drive and the NTI CD&DVD maker 7 software bundled wih my Acer computer. When I play the VCD on my DVD player, I only get sound from one channel.

The *.flv file indicates stereo audio and sound comes from both speakers when I run the file on the computer using VLC player.

Just wondering if its because of the cheap limited versions of video editing software I used, or something else. Thanks. Jim

Disregard; I thought about it a little more and found the problem with hardware.
