My DVD player plays video on Nero, but no sound, yet the DVD audio will play on Creative Source Audio player (which is not a video player), and CDs play audio fine. Audio plays fine on Windows Media Player, but neither audio or video plays from DVDs on Windows Media Player. What could be missing?

Windows Media Player does not have codecs for MPEG2 video. this is why DVD's won't play in Media Player.
The problem with Nero Showtime not playing audio is probably a setting somewhere under options. Look for the audio setup and try different settings such as using Dolby Digital 2 channel output.
