Nikon D3100 DSLR Error: Press shutter release button again

Specs: Windows Vista
I tried to take a photo with my Nikon D3100, and "ERROR! Press shutter release button again" appeared and i did and nothing happened.

It's some sort of shutter mechanism jam up it seems. See this video if you fancy your chances. Not quite yours but useful for the general idea :

Fortunately there is no deafening music to distract you.

Be vary careful not to touch anything with your bare hands in case you zap something, particular when testing it with the battery in situ. Be sparing with silicon grease if used - it "walks" so not much is usually needed.

Thanks for getting back so quickly.......BUT my camera does not have a bottom plate that i can take off. So I need more help.

There is a vague possibility that the battery needs changing. Otherwise see my search link (2nd one in my #1) which might give some ideas. Mostly cameras need to be repaired by an expert, or you replace them.
