Nero Vision hangs up
Name: langegg Date: October 20, 2006 at 15:42:45 Pacific OS: Windows XP Tablet PC Edit CPU/Ram: 1.87 Product: Gateway M280 TabletPC
Comment:
Nero Vision frequently hangs up when burning. It happens when combining several avi files, not with single files. The preview window stops on a scene and doesn't go any further. The Time Elapsed continues to run. Windows Task Manager shows it using practically all of the cpu (when available) and does not show it as not responding. But it will sit for hours going no further. I know that this isn't very specific since there's no error message or log file (that I know of), but I'm wondering if someone can suggest something to look for. Thanks.

I assume that you are burning DVD discs. I don't use Nero, but it 'can' take hours to burn a DVD. I burn them overnight.
Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Yes, DVDs. Nero works fine on most burns, taking less than 2 hours. But on these hang ups, I've left it over night (at least 5 hours) with no change. Is that not long enough? On other burns I've never had it take over 2 hours.

Are you using Nero OEM version or the retail? I had problems with the OEM but the full retail Ultra 6 version has been problem free.

if you fill the DVD to the max, no matter which program you are using for writing it will take a LONG time. Whereas, if after you burn the dvd, copying the exact copy of the disc will only take a short while, you'd be surprised.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I'm using the full Ultra edition, rhawk7938. XpUser4Real, I understand what you're saying about filling the disk, but Nero doesn't show the disk as being full. I don't understand the last part of your post about after burning the DVD. Can you explain more? Thanks.

Once a DVD has been burnt, it only takes a matter of minutes if you make a copy of it.
