I have got a dvd -r 1-16x 4.7gb single sided dvd's in there. is there something wong with them or am i missing a step... sorry don't have a clue where to start trouble shooting.

Thanks R.

Back to the basics first. Are you sure the DVD-R is blank. Are you sure your burner is capable of burning to DVD-R format? There are many older burners that do not burn to both DVD-R and DVD+R formats. Could your burner be one of the ones that only burns to DVD+R format? Another thing, if your burner is capable of burning DVD-R disks, what is it's highest burning speed? I have encountered a few burners that will not burn to higher speed rated media (even when you force a lower burn rate within the specs of the DVD burner.) I keep a stash of 8x rated DVD-R disks just for this purpose.

What is your CD/DVD software? It usually comes bundled with the writer.

After you open your software, it should ask you what type of project you are doing. Data, Music, etc

Then when you pick the project you would like, you could copy and paste or drag and drop your files into it.

It makes a difference which DVDR you are using, if it is a DVDRW, then you can keep adding files untill the disc is full.

I would suggest you either read the manual or try some research using google on burning CD's and DVD's

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

You have to use a burning program to record to DVDs. Windows will only record to CDs.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!
