Comment: good day, i recently bought a dvd burner. and I bought some memorex dvd + r. I have some old vids on my hard drive that i won't to burn to dvd so i can watch on my television. I converted the files from wmv to dvd. I burned them and put the dvd in my Presidian Dvd Player to watch on my TV and it doesn't play (disc error). I have some burnt dvd's from friends and they play so i'm wondering am i suppose to convert the files to dvd or some other name i see so many options like vcd, avi, etc... I just want the files to be able to play on my home dvd player. Did i get the right kind of dvd-r's "(Memorex dvd+r)? I have had my dvd burner for 4 days now, and don't have any dvd's to show for it, lol thanks

Reply: (edit)You possibly used the wrong procedure. You have to use a DVD creator program. It will convert your videos to the DVD format. If you have a newer version of Nero, it will do the job. I use a program called Ulead DVD Movie Factory and can recommend it, but there are several other programs that work very well. Note also that older DVD players sometimes have problems with DVDs recorded on a computer. Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Reply: (edit)thanks as always ham30, i used some dvd converter to burn the dvd, yeah nero came with the dvd burner. So i'm using that right now, when adding the files it told me that the dvd will automatically be converted, so hopefully it'll work. It's taken it 30 minutes to copy 2 of the 7 files that i'm trying to burn on 1 disc. So i'll probably find out tomorrow since i'm about to go to bed. I paid $110 for my home dvd player about a year ago, so hopefully it'll work. Thanks

Reply: (edit)Glad to help, Amanda. And I have to say again, you did a 'great' job getting that drive working. Using Acronis was an unusual way to get the drive partitioned and formatted, but you can't argue with success. :-) Do yourself a favor BACKUP!
