I understand rars and such, but how do I process multiple xvid portions to one dvd?

I wonder what'll happen if I do this ?

Your question is a bit to vague. Can you go into more detail please.
Are you creating a DVD movie diskette or just copying Xvids to DVD media?
Compressing Xvids will not buy you very much, if that's what you are thinking.

My problem is that I rec'd a movie composed of multiple divx files. I need to know how to recompose them into one large file, similar to what we do with winrar. Then I can handle the rest of the process.

I wonder what'll happen if I do this ?

If you are creating a DVD movie diskette, there is no need to combine them. The DVD creator program takes care of that.

I have tried using NeroVisionExpress, DivxtoDVD, WinAvi....none of them will pick up the additional divx segments...of which there are 38. Any suggestions ?

Are you saying that it accepts one Xvid and then won't accept any more? Or is it that it will not accept Xvids at all?

I really don't have any suggestions except maybe converting the Xvids to Mpeg2. That's the normal format for VOBs (the DVD format).

It processes only one xvid at a time, without advancing to the next one. I guess I could process the 38 xvids, and then renumber the individual segments as vob1, vob2, etc. Seems like a bassackwards way to do it tho.

AHAH ! Success ! Had to associate the xvid segments to Winrar. Right click...open with..winrar...and it opened the whole series up properly, and I ended with an avi.
I appreciate your efforts.

Good work! So they weren't Xvid segments, they were RAR segments.

Actually, they showed as xvid segments, but acted like rar segments.

RAR segments have an extension of .rXX (xx is a number) or rar. Xvid videos have an extension of .xvid or .AVI

Maybe you have your system set to not show file extensions. That could be why you made the mistake.

My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > 'Hide extensions for known file types' should normally not be selected.
