MS XP camera wizard doesn't recognize my came

May 1, 2011 at 01:43:36
Specs: Windows XP
Please help - I recently bought a Fujifilm Finepix JZ510. I tried to install the software that came with it, but it kept crashing. I thought that I would revert to the scanner and camera wizard which I have used very happily with Olympus and Canon cameras, but the pc doesn't seem to register the camera when attached via the USB port, and I can't find the wizard to try and make it do so. Any ideas?
Many thanks

Buy a card reader that plugs into a usb port, then remove SD card from the camera and put it in the card reader. The camera software is not required if you do this.

There's no need to install a driver for the card reader as windows XP & later versions have a generic Microsoft driver built-in to the operating system.

Using a card reader is much easier than connecting the camera to a PC.

many thanks for the reply. i have now got round the problem by going through control panel to scanners and cameras, and right clicking on the camera icon. this saves me having to buy a card reader! (which is what jessops suggested when i took the camera back). thanks again for replying
all the best
