Hi all,
I have a new photo camera which makes also movies. My problem is that the movies are too big to been send by e-mail so is a 15 sec movie about 10Mb. So I want to convert the Apple's Quicktime MOV to a smaller format.
Can somebody advise me which (free) program to use?
TIA
Tamtam

To convert movies to a compatible format, use either of the following methods:
Method 1: Convert QuickTime Movies to AVI Format
1. Start QuickTime 4.0 Pro, and open the file that you want to convert.
2. On the File menu, click Export.
3. Set the Export file type to Movie to AVI.
4. Click Options, and then click Settings.
5. In the Compressor group, click the list of compressors and choose one from the preceding list. One of the more popular formats is Cinepak, but choose the one that you think works best for your movie.
6. Make sure to change the extension on the file name to .avi, and then click Save.

Method 2: Recompress the QuickTime Movies with Compatible Codec
1. Start QuickTime 4.0 Pro, and open the file that you want to convert.
2. On the File menu, click Export.
3. Set the Export file type to Movie to QuickTime Movie.
4. Click Options, and then click Settings.
5. In the Compressor group, click the list of compressors and choose one from the above list. One of the more popular formats is Cinepak, but choose the one that you think works best for your movie.
6. Click Save.

You can try also Vidlogo for it. For smaller size you need to convert your mov to wmv or mpeg and before converting to set different settings.
http://www.geovid.com/VidLogo/. There is a free trial version without time limit.

Hi cnf, I tried your suggestions but it seems I only have Quick Time Player which don't seem to have the possibility to export etc. I could upgrade to QuickTime 7.0 Pro but am not sure that will work on a Win 98 machine and there seems not to be a trial version.
Perhaps the QuickTime 4.0 Pro version can help but I don't find it on the Net.

Vinpix,
I downloaded and installed Vidlogo 3.2 and get error messages when openeing the program, so at the moment I don't have a clue what to do next.
Regards
Tamtam

Hi, Tamtam.
I have Win XP and with that OS it works good. Probably VidLogo doesn't support Win 98. I regret if I couldn't help you.
