Hi everyone. Hope you can help.
I have a mini DV cassette (approx. 2.5 inches x 2 inches) that was given to me by family.
I have a Sony dcr-trv740 HandyCam that uses a 8mm cassette. (approx. 3 3/4 inches x 2.5 inches)
I'd like to play the mini cassette by using my Handycam so I can upload it to my computer and then edit it with my VegasVideo program.
Is there an adapter of some sort that will allow me to use my cam and this mini cassette?
Or will I just need to buy a mini cam just to do this?
Or is there any other way I can get this cassette into my computer? (I only have the 8mm camera)
Thank you very much :)
Have a great weekend.

I would suggest asking around and borrowing someone else's mini cam, that would be the easiest and cheapest way
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

The yellow pages come in really handy right about now....
There is no adaptor that I know of that will allow one cam to play a completely different tape, and buying a new cam is sort of silly for a one-tape playback.
There are lots of small recording companies out there that have the equipment and for a small charge they will transfer it for you to a medium of your choice.

Thanks for your replies! Yes, I thought it was silly to purchase one just to do that. I will ask some friends and see if they have one, if not, I"ll check my local video editing shop.
Thanks again :)
