Comment: Just bought a HP Pavilion M7350n with Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 installed. Reading up on this software it looks like it is very restrictive as to what you can do with it regarding licenses. The main reason I bought the computer was for the inputs so I can record different media from differnt devices then edit slide shows or video and useing a third party program like Proshow Gold or something similar to make DVD's Did I make a mistake? Thanks, Doug

Reply: (edit)YYYYYEAH.... Not only is it restrictive, but it has a lot of compatibility problems with other hardware/software. I made the mistake of buying a machine with MC...I had problems with my capture cards (one internal and one external) as well as with my beyond TV program. I ended up dumping the MC for a spare xp home that I had. Everything works well now.

Reply: (edit)I wouldnt think about using media center for capture or editing as it sucks for this but for playing the videos and slide shows it will work fine :) think about adobe premire pro or for basic stuff use windows movie maker2 to capture and then build the dvd.
