lost software for digi camera

i got a free digital camera a while back, never used it. but now i tried to use it and relized i didnt have the software to install the driver. there is no accessible memory card, its got no brand name, it looks just like a cheapo. so my question is... does anybody know where i can get maybe some sort of universal digital camera driver, or some other way to retrieve the pictures ive taken with it? it just plugs into the usb port and it says that it cant find a driver. thanks

There is no universal driver for cameras. Win2K and XP have the drivers for many USB devices and usually will map them as a removable drive. Windows 98 and ME do not.
You may want to state your OS better. There is no such operating system as ME 2000. It's one or the other.

Summary: Um, yeah. Not sure what to say. if the software for your camera does not allow you to read/write non image files there's notthing that can be done. You should be able to do it when using the CF Reader...
