Hi, I am looking for an all around printer that will put out hi-quality photo prints and will do transparencies, labels, envelopes, index cards, greeting cards, iron-on transfers, etc. too. One that is pretty cost efficient to use too. Any suggestion will be gladly appreciated. Thanks!!!

There is no perfect all aound printer. Many of the new inkjets can do most of what you want but at a not so cost efficient price. Many times depending upon the duty cycle, more than one printer is the answer.

Agree with Wizard... Inkjets are good (and would fit your bill) but they are not the cheapest things in the world to run. I try to use Canon because most of them use a separate ink tank system. When the black (for example) runs out, you only have to replace the black and not the entire colour cartidge.

The other advantage is that the inktanks are big and very easy to refill using one of those universal refill kits... which saves you a lot of money!

The Canon printer I have (the I950) has 6 inktanks as opposed to the normal 4. The 2 extra colours are denoted as: PHOTO CYAN and PHOTO MAGENTA. These colours are slightly different than the normal cyan, and magenta and are used only for the photo printing. But then of course is the price... 2 extra colours is that much more money to run.

I should add one more thing... be careful not to get the 3 tank inkjets. These printers don't have a true black ink. They instaed will use all 3 colours to make black... costing you even more money.

I use the Epson R200 Photo Printer and it is awesome. Has 6 color packs (you can buy generic ink on E-bay for less than 1/3 the price)and also prints right onto CD's or DVD's. I got it at Sam's Club for $79.00
I do alot of video editing and produce lots of DVD's and it works great.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

My Epson R1800 will print 13x19 sheet, or 13xwatever from a roll.

Prints from my 20D are as good or better than any Typr R print I've ever made.

It's cheap now too that they've come out with an upgraded one (both are current models).
