I have an SD card reader, but don't know where the software is to install it to my Inspiron Notebook. All I know is it is from PNY Technologies, and is about 5 years old. It's for SD/MMC.

yes, it immediately starts looking for a disc, and when it doesn't find one, says something like "may not have installed propperly" or something like that.

That is strange, XP should recognize one that is 5 yrs old. Try uninstalling your USB controllers in the device manager and then reboot. XP will renew the drivers, then try the usb reader again. If that doesn't work, post the name and model of the card and we can probably find the driver for it. Actually check this out and see if your product is listed: http://www3.pny.com/support/support... Let me know ok? Thanks
