laptop slows down when watching online videos

July 7, 2011 at 13:00:26
Specs: Windows 7, intel i5 580/6gb ram
a few minutes into watching a video online on any site, my computer starts slowing down. When I open task manager the load is anywhere from 85-100%. And it always runs at 1.2 ghz while watching video. It could run at higher speeds such as 2.66ghz. Much of the cpu usage is by the explorer at about 30% then google chrome at 20% and other programs running at 1-3 %. I know its not the internet because other sites work fine and the whole computer freezes not just the browser. This hapens every now and then but not always. Meaning it might happen today but not tommorow. I used symantec to scan and nothing show up. its really frustrating when it happens. this does,nt happen to my other older pc running vista at 1.86 ghz. All the drivers seem to be updated. this does'nt happen when watching videos from my hard drive!!! Only online. I use wifi.
My system specs
Win 7
Intel i5 580m @ 2.66
6gb ram, 500 HDD
intell Hd graphics
I bought it in Nov 2010. I don't know when the problem started!
please help

It could just be the PC or that fact that you are streaming can cause it to slow down. "I used symantec" I would try something else and see what the scan picks up. i would recommend "avast free" its the best free anti virus out there.
