When I turn on the camcorder to record, it says"remove lens cap" even when the lens cap is already removed. I have bought 2 of these camcorders for my daughters for Christmas a couple of years ago so it is past warranty, & BOTH have the identical problem. Any suggestions?

I did a Google search for "JVC remove lens cap" and it looks like your CCD is bad. Time to send it in to the repair shop or get a new camera. this looks like a very common problem with JVC cameras.

Thanks, I have spent the better part of an hour doing searches as well. It seems I just need to find a repair shop that is friendly &nunderstanding to get it fixed for free. Wish they would acknowledge the problem everywhere - surely they have a network where they can inform ALL of their authorised deaers when something like this happens! Thanks again.

This is a known problem with this model. The cause has been identified by JVC as a failure of the CCD image sensor. Until October 1, 2007, repairs of units exhibiting these problems will be made free of charge at JVC Factory Service Centers.
