Actually nothing works. It is a RCA Pro 8. This has a casette load much like a regular old tape but a different size. I tried taking the cassette holder apart but it didn't seem to have anything wrong with it. Cannot load a cassette into it and that might keep the motor from running.

I went to RCA but they long ago stopped having any info online.

This is obviously a dated camcorder. The only reason I wanted to get it to run and put the contents on DVD media. It contains many videos of my parents and other family members who have left this world. I thought family members would enjoy having these as memories and also for their children to know the family.

I appreciate your answeing my post even if it doesn't get me anywhere. At least someone cared enough to answer it.

Happy computing! Joe

Good battery?

Try shopping online auctions like ebay or others...

http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auction...

You can probably find a working camcorder pretty cheap.

Thanks again for your reply. Was frustrated to see the auction for my cam was over. It actually was a newer version of mine.I didn't know that Goodwill had an auction site so you helped more than you might think.I checked my local Goodwill but they didn't even mention the site or I would have possibly won the auction.

There are several replacements that might work so I can only thank you again for your response and your help. I do appreciate it. Joe

Joe,

My thoughts, after reading your Response 2, were that I'd sure as hell want to save the videos too and also have the option of doing the transfer to DVD myself.

Although a film lab could do the job, ~25ยข per foot can get pretty expensive. I know I'd rather buy a good used camera than borrow one and that led me to search for a used Pro 8.

I didn't know Goodwill had an online auction site either...
