I have a DVD+R that a professional photographer saved photos to for me. He granted me permission in writing to have any printed. The problem is I cannot seem to open the files on this DVD+R. They are jpeg files but when I put the DVD in my computer not only do they not open they make the entire machine slow and pretty much every program I try to start ends up not reponding. Any ideas on how I can open these pictures? My sister took them to a local CVS and was able to open and order pictures. I would like to view them at home first before I decide which photos to purchase.

Sounds like your DVD player on the PC only reads DVD-R discs.
Almost any machine in Sam's Club, Walmart (not sure on CVS) will read those discs.
It will show you all the pics and then you decide from there.

Try the disc on a standalone DVD player plugged into your TV. There's a good chance that it will read the disc. Almost all new players do now. Hope that Helps

Try using Windows Explorer to navigate the disc.

Insert the CD and hold down the left Shift key until the cursor's hour glass is done trying to read the CD.

Then open Windows Explorer to see if you can view the images.

It is possible that the camera used was a high mega-pixel camera and your PC (unknown amount of RAM) is having difficulty reading them all at once causing your described issues.

It is worth a try.

I think Bryco may be on the right track. The photographer wouldn't have used a DVD at all unless there is a huge amount of data on there.

**Try using Windows Explorer to navigate the disc.**

This may be quite hard to do when the poster said **not only do they not open they make the entire machine slow and pretty much every program I try to start ends up not reponding.**

Let's see if the poster has come up with a good solution
