Yes - and I would second all that is written here!
My experience of Pinnacle software is that it is simplicity itself to use and VERY user friendly.
The firewire port/cable is also good advice.
Pinnacle Studio 9 is available on eBay at small prices - well worth the investment! Pinnacle Studio 10 still a bit new (and more pricey!).

Good article..and yes, studio is good. The 9 version is quite depandable, but does not do HD.
Studio 10 on the other hand does. It was a disaster in the begining. They do have most of the bugs worked out now so it is worth upgrading. We are testing a 10.7 beta right now (public beta) which will further clean up minor dvd author problems. The 10.7 version also introduces a new HD-dvd plugin whichallows hd to be burned to a normal dvd for playback in a HD-dvd player. I have the sony HC3 hi-def cam and a toshiba hd player... and the plugin works super!! The picture is so clear and defined that you just feel kind of like getting up off the couch and WALKING right into the video! The hi-def slideshows look rather incredible as well.
