IEEE 1394 Firewire

My Digital Video Camera is not recognized when I plug it into my IEEE 1394 port. The IEEE 1394 port shows as a Network Adaptor in the device manager. Do I need a new driver? My DV camera is recognized when I use a Pinnacle GmbH capture card with firewire.
