Try the CD in a different computer, if it doesn't show up in that one either, the disc is bad. Also try a different CD in this computer, that will tell you if your drive is having issues.

you may have malware issues on your PC. Usually when a cd is inserted windows will give you a pop-up asking what you want to do with it, etc.
Pop in the CD and then double click on 'my computer' and see if the disc shows there. If it doesn't, your CD/DVD player may not be functioning properly.

Open device manager and see if the player is listed and if there are any yellow ! (exclamation) in there beside any devices.

Hi, I think your should use a data recovery software to retrieve your photos, sometimes error happens with unknown reasons, you should be more careful and backup all important files. Try to download this powerful and useful software here at Kvisoft: http://www.kvisoft.com/data-recovery/

Hope your photo files are all good. But if you lose your photos, I suggest you to find the professional repair shop or third party recovery software. You may also check this post to see if it helps or not: http://www.uflysoft.com/data-recovery-mac/recover-deleted-files-from-trash.html
