how to Recover of corrupted jpeg photos

Hello good morning. Hey my problem is i had a hard disk crash. I got my data recovered from a local computer repairs store. Bus unfortunately most of my valuable JPEG photos are damaged. The photos are showing a memory of 500kb etc but when I tried to open them with windows fax viewer, it said unable to generate preview. In the folder containing the photos there is a file of unknown format "THUMBS" [data base file 67Kb]. I request you to suggest me some means by which I can recover those photos. They are very very precious memories to me so please suggest a solution for my problem. Thank you.
