I wanted to create a tutorial of one of my ebooks by going through it on screen. I need to be able to record my actual PC screen while I'm moving the mouse and speaking, similar to how this person does it in this video:

Anyone know of any software (free or paid) to do this?

One of the most popular screen recorders is Camtasia. Camtasia allows you to record audio from your microphone, while recording the activity on your screen. Perfect for video tutorials, etc. You can download a 30 day trial version.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

AviScreen is an application for capturing screen activity in the form of AVI video or bitmap images. Beside the usual options defining the capture area, AviScreen has a unique feature called “follow the cursor”. Using this mode you can produce a video or image of relatively small dimensions while covering all mouse activity over the whole screen area.

Note: I have not tried this one myself. If you do then please post back with your review of it.

AviScreen was extremely quick to download, install, record and get the video saved in avi format. The default setting leaves the video uncompressed, but you also get the choice to select different video compression, which reduces the file size dramatically. I'll also test camtasia and see if it's worth getting over this free tool :)

Another very easy one to use is "Wink".
It is also free.

There are other excellent free ones, I just don't remember their names.

Good luck!
