how to play .dvr files

I recorded some videos using a DVR application that came with a DVR card(PCI). The problem is the videos can only be played in the playback feature with in this application. The files are saved with ".dvr" extension using the H.264 codec compression. Does anybody know of any media player out there which could play these files? I have already tried Win Media Player, Real, Quick Time, and even Irfan View :), nothing seemed to recognize this .dvr extension. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

WOW, this is exactly what I was coming here to post about, so here's hoping someone answers! (Sorry if you thought this was someone who could help coming in. ;-) Or, if you got the answer somewhere else, it would be great if you could share it! :)
In my case, it's a friend's new security monitoring system I told him I'd try to help with. We were figuring some app just needed to be associated, but I got the feeling from a quick Google search that maybe several apps and/or types of components or whatever will be necessary. Hope it's actually not too tricky!
