I know that Adobe Photoshop has a function that allows you to do this.

But I would check download.com and search for free watermark programs, I have had to get one or two off of there.

Some printers have the option to add a watermark (my Epson MFP does), you can choose from standard ones or add your own image then set the colour and density of it so it's only just visible.

If you are looking at a standard one for a lot of different documents then it may be worth contacting a specialist printer. One I used to deal with provided headed and watermarked paper for a large firm of accountants in the UK.

I hear you, but each different program comes with custom watermarks that you can put on a document.

Just go to that website and check out what it offers when it comes to watermark programs. They have descriptions and everything else, but I'm almost positive you will find what your looking for.

You cannot make a true watermark because they are impressed on the paper when the paper is made. All marks made by a printer can be seen because they are added to the surface of the paper.

The Epson I have is the BX600FW and the watermark option appears under print preferences/page layout. It may be more than you actually need though because it's a scanner & fax machine as well. I'd imagine that a lot of the Epson printers have the facility - there's a page HERE for a different Epson model which shows how it's done.

I just want to make something clean. Invisible watermark that you hold up to a light to reveal itself and a Photoshop watermark with a regular printer are different.

Listen to wizard-fred. A watermark from Photoshop is simply changing the opacity of the image to make it seem diluted like adding water to an image. Watermark.

Having an image appear when being help to a light source is completely different and CANNOT be achieved with a simple Epson MFP.
