I downloaded some AVI files from a Japanese Scuba site to look at the video of dives on some WWII shipwrecks and some Pacific Islands vacation spots. What I got was a number of files with names like this.

murohtc.avi.001
murohtc.avi.002
etc. etc. etc. all the way to
murohtc.avi.014

These are obvioulsy in order but how do I combine them and play them? I tried changing the name by removing the .00x extension and renaming them but no joy!

I have WinMediaPlayer, IRFAN view, Win Movie Maker, and NERO 7. do I need something else.

If you double click on each one what happens?

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day;
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime;
Then industry pollutes the water and kills all the fish.

I don't think you need to be looking for a video program - those files were most likely split usingf something else. WinRar comes to mind, but it usually uses the extensions R01, R02, etc. But, there are references in other posts that these may be WinRar files aas well. Or it could be HJSplit files. Take a look at these posts:

Have you got the correct codecs? It seems to me, someone has split an avi file. You might need some sort of video joiner. I'd try getting a codec pack first. Just google for one.

Thanks Michael J for the clue. They were HJ split files. I found a small program called HJ-Join to join them together then they play right.

I think someone has splited the avi files too, in my opinion, you can join them by using software, i have used a good software named Amor Video Joiner which can help you join or merge AVI/DivX, XivD,MPEGI/II, RM, RMVB, VOB, DAT, ASF files, and combine WMV file in one large file in various formats.
Try it!
