Hi there,

I am making a home video for a family member showing our new place and have already filmed the place but was wondering how to creat some great visual effects.

The only thing that comes to mind that I would like to do is that when I go from one part of the house to the next, if I could somehow record the movie so that it has the same effect as if you were to hit the fast forward button while the movie is on play when using a vcr.

Know what I mean?

That sounds like a pretty neat idea. I 'wonder' if converting the clip of the location change to a lower frame rate would do it.

(edit) I Guess the video editor that re-assembled the clips, probably wouldn't go for that.

Something that would probably work is deleting a bunch of frames in that part. In other words delete a few, leave a few, delete a few, etc. Lots of work. :-)

Adobe After Effects has a time remapping feature that is made for this sort of effect. There may be other software capable of remapping time. Try a google search for "time remap".

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

Ulead's MediaStudio Pro 8 and VideoStudio 11 Plus will both do this. Just click on the 'Time Stretch Mode' icon, then drag the right edge of the clip to the left to speed up motion, drag to the right to slow down motion.

I believe the built-in Windows Movie Maker (XP and Vista) will also do this.

Don't squat with your spurs on!

thanks,

I have never really liked Adobe cause I found it to be not so user friendly.

My logitech camera came with ulead software when I purchased it back in 2001(Videowave) but does not have that function. I will have to try the newer ulead software.

However, I did manage to get the effect I wanted, but unfortunately had little control over the amount of control from the time stretch effect on larger clips.
