Anyone know anywhere in the UK to buy cheap ink cartridges for an Epson R800 please? These things are like the best part of a hundred quid Thanks
L.Dudley

try ebay and get generic ink...really LOW prices and I do that all the time here in the US less than 1/3 the price and don't let Epson tell you different, generic ink works GREAT!
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

did that work for you? A reply would be nice

I'll tell you different. The r800 uses the Ultrachrome pigment set, and no generic ink is going to give you the same results. Results that are acceptable to an amateur for everyday snapshots, yes, archival professional quality images, no.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Yes I have noticed many replacements available on the web for around half price however I am dubious about using these as I have heard they can give poor results and that they aren't as good for the printer - especially as the printer is brand new. My girlfriend found some extremely good deal whereby she got two packs of cartidges and 2 blacks for around £20 but I we can't remmeber the website.

JoeMiddle, thanks for the correction...I do professional photography and I have had NO TROUBLE whatsoever with generic inks...I appreciate your knowledge though, as obviously your eye is a bit better than mine.

The days of cheap ink cartridges for Epson printers is numbered. For starter, read this article...
Epson Jumps On Aftermarket Ink Resellers -- Claims Patent Infringement
First it was HP then Lexmark and now it's Epson. Selling new ink cartridges is their biggest business profit - at than $5.9 billion at market price.

XpUser, of course epson is angry...you would be too if you could sell a cartridge for $15 when all it costs is $5 to refill it. Brand names are what you pay for...the name. That's why generics popped into the scene, to help out the blue collar workers.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
