email content into other programs

When I select all the contents of a received email-with-text-and-graphics, so as to copy and paste 'it' into WORD, only the text copies. Even if I save the email as htm, and open THAT in Internet Explorer or FrontPage, I still get empty frames instead of images. Individual elements CAN be copied and pasted into e.g. Paint, but not the entirity. Is there any way of capturing all the separable elements together, [as distinct from taking a screen shot of it] ? [If I forward the email, it becomes somewhat and awkwardly editable.]
