I'm going to invest in some high qualty, archival DVD's to put my pictures and videos on. Does it matter if I put them on a DVD-R or DVD+R???
I read Taiyo Yuden Media is the best?
Any other opinions?
Thanks!
Julie

IMHO I have tried both and found that the + version works best for me, as I make lots of Retail DVD's and from reading up I found that many opinions said the + version is the most compatable with most DVD players. Others may differ, BUT, I haven't had a DVD come back yet. If it does, I also have a master DVD recorded on a - DVD and I can send it to them.
Hope that helps you.Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I myself am a more hands on person. I don't believe much in reviews although at times they clarify some things, BUT, I never base my decision on that. I tend to use things that work for me.

What works for you is fine for you. Nevertheless I believe posters should be provided with as much info as possible in order to digest & make her/his own decision.

If you stick to quality media manufactured in Japan, the media should give you good results and possibly last a bit longer too.
I'm not that tech savvy a guy here, but I've read in a few different places now that Japan media is superior because of the AZO dye used in the manufacturing process.
I'd stay away from the bargain stuff....Imation, Staple's house brand, and by all means avoid the junk with a Memorex label. You'll do yourself a tremendous favor.
Of course, each person has their own preferences and what works for one guy may not work well for the other. I have superb results with Maxell media manufactured in Japan. My Plextor 716-A simply loves that media... and with very, very few errors when I run the burn quality tests with Plextools software.
I look at the barcode and read where it was manufactured. If it lists Taiwan, Mexico, Panama, or any other place other than Japan, it goes right back on the shelf.
Those are good websites that XpUser has listed for you; definitely head over there you can read up on many helpful topics related to various media and burning.
